Arizona Medical Dispensaries that applied for recreational sales have been given the green light. Medical cannabis patients are exempt from the 16% sales tax; allowed to purchase edibles with higher THC percentage and larger quantities of cannabis products.
There are currently 73 dispensaries in the state allowed to sell. The cost of entry to get into the adult recreational cannabis market? A whopping $25,000 for the application. With a 27% sales increase, the fee seems minimal to get into a lucrative but challenging market.
Job growth is much anticipated in the state. With only last year the state requiring medical cannabis products to be tested, it looks the recreational market still has some growing pains in the upcoming year.
